FGUI Tour, Stage 1 - Newcastle - 1st March 2020

Stage 1 of the DSsports FootGolf Union Of Ireland Tour belonged to James Barry who showed his class throughout to take a 3 shot win.

Day one of the FGUI Tour belonged to Barry (-18) after what turned into a comfortable three shot victory over Joe Donoghue (-15) and Gary Mullin (-14) failed to mount a sustained challenge over the course of the second round. Cathal Jenkinson (-13) made a late push for the podium but ultimately fell one short when Gary birdied the 18th to hold on to third place.

The conditions were ultimately tough with wind and some soft ground causing players to adjust their approaches and technique. Ballybane FootGolf at Newcastle Golf Centre Dublin was however in fantastic condition considering the weather we've had and it is a testament to the staff at Newcastle that the players could enjoy 36 holes of enjoyable FootGolf today.

In the Amateur Category, Damien Coyne (-6) put in a fantastic performance to win by 3 shots over Shane Smullen and Ryan Nolan who finished tied for 2nd on -3. Shane took 2nd place after a fantastic playoff victory that came down to penalty putts. Special mention to Shane who put in a magnificent performance in his first ever competitive round of FootGolf.
